Vibration is the foundation of everything, and every vibration has its own frequency. Many believe listening to specific music notes (tones) can help bring about balance and promote deep healing. 528 Hz is one of these special frequencies, and it's one of my favorites.

Almost all of the music we hear is tuned to 440 Hz. I've been a musician and fascinated by the power of my entire life, but had never strayed into alternate tunings beyond tuning my guitar strings from one note to another. When I discovered the benefits of 528 Hz I decided to do what I feel everyone should do - see for yourself how you feel after listening.

I had a weird experience. I've been immersed in music my entire life which may have added to the surprise. I was suddenly intrigued by the sensations I was having in my body while listening to music tuned to 528 Hz. It's difficult to articulate, but it's relaxing and airy, expansive and energizing, with the gentle texture of flowing water. Somehow it makes me feel lighter in my body. If I really tune in, I seem to get a sense of my cells vibrating in resonance.

The same music in the traditional Western tuning of 440 Hz sounds different to me, not as pleasant. When I've compared side by side, 440 Hz feels gravitating and heavy. I've also discovered it's easier for me to sing songs in either 528 Hz or 440 Hz. I prefer this because it retains the color of the key and the feeling I had as it was being conceived.

The vibration of the tone at 528 frequency itself is not very nice to listen to for most people - it's too isolated and focused. Imagine the long tone used to test emergency broadcast systems - it's a single, unwavering tone.

Using sound frequencies in an intentional way can be really powerful, but listening to the tone playing on its own is challenging. I wanted to create a set of tools that leverage the benefits of 528 Hz but are enjoyable to listen to. My 528 Hz Soundscape Series features peaceful and ambient music tuned to 528 Hz. I also play the 528 Hz tone throughout most of the 30-minute track, but it's very subtle and blended into the background.

A small 2018 study from Japan compared the effects of listening to music tuned to 440 Hz and 528 Hz. It found that there was no significant change after listening to 440 Hz, but 528 Hz music significantly reduced stress in the endocrine systems and autonomic nervous systems.

The Journal of Addiction Research & Therapy published a study in 2018 indicating that 528 Hz sound waves can be useful in reducing the toxic effects of ethanol on astrocyte cell culture.

There is a growing interest in the science of frequency healing and I believe we will see more studies proving a correlation between sound and healing.
